HEADLINES: May 10, 2016:

JC, the self proclaimed atheist of Marlin and a communist Bluegill sympithisor has stunned the community with, we think false reports, of some, so called highly classified documents floating around called “The Marlin Chronicles”. Reports of these shady documents continue to stun the Marlin world. Marlin magazine reports: that JC, and slithering Chris, as they called him in the article? were trading in arms for Marlin hostages being held in Baja.

Pisces Weekly Fish Report April 30 to May 3, 2016

PISCES FISH REPORT

APRIL 30th to MAY 6th, 2016

Overall Catch Success Rate All Species Combined 99%

Numbers at a glance: Billfish 49%, Sharks 73%, Other 46%

BILLFISH: We’re back! Finally after months of small game fishing we saw a return this week to the big stuff. We were pleased to see more consistent billfish catches and even multiple marlin catches for some boats. At the start of the week the hot boat was the Hot Rod as they released three striped marlin up to 150 LBS and SIX pilot sharks up to 130 LBS all caught at the 11.50 spot by Kevin Bremer, James Snyder, Pamela Snyder, Jesse Jernigan & Sam Jernigan – a pretty busy days for these lucky anglers. Our 35 ft. Cabo Listo celebrated 5 de Mayo in style as they also released three striped marlin and released a large pilot shark for a group of Mexican anglers from Monterey, mainland Mexico. Another boat with more than one marlin was Pisces 31ft Bertram La Brisa; they released two striped marlin at the 11.50 spot for the Collins and Lancers from Maryland, who also did well to release an 180 LB pilot shark and a 110 LB thresher shark. Forty nine percent of our charters caught marlin this week, not fantastic, but definitely on the road to recovery with a total of 23 marlin released this week.

Endless Season Update  November 28, 2014
REPORT #1419 “Below the Border”
Saltwater Fly-Fishing reports since 1996

Huge waves generated by winds between 30- and 40-mph with gusts to 50-mph ripped through the La Paz area for three days, from Tuesday to Thursday, forcing the closure of the port. The gale force winds made for some great watching from shore where it was still a comfortable 82 degrees, but everyone stayed off the water.

Fish Report for the Week of the 16th thru the 23 of October, 2014

Finally we started chartering some pangas after Hurricane Odile.  Such a strong experience to be in Cabo through the strongest hurricane to ever hit this area.  In a devastated town that got back on its feet in under month, unbelievable hard work from everybody to get this place running, truly an amazing experience.  Activity picking up slowly, with some tourists starting to enjoy Cabo and Sport fishing with a slow week considering the situation, and with hurricane Odile affecting our sea conditions, fishing was pretty good with lots of Bill Fish and Dorado to go around, species biting are Bonita, Rooster, Needle Fish, Skip Jack and Spanish Mackerel.

Pancho, expert fish snatcher, surprises these anglers aboard Pisces Tiburon

BILLFISH: It’s great to finally have something to write about as boats gradually begin to get out fishing after the hurricane. Fisherman are hardy, not easily deterred by and are slowly trickling back into Cabo to take advantage of the fabulous fishing that the month of October offers. Some of the first anglers to visit Cabo, came all the way from Denmark; Henrik Buhl had fished all over the world trying to catch a blue marlin on what had been a 25 year mission, but all it took was for him to come to Cabo to realize his dream. He released his 150 lb blue along with a sailfish at Punta Gorda, aboard Pisces La Brisa on October 9th. Florida anglers Christopher Clark, Kevin Barnett & Rich Mitchell had an amazing time aboard our new 31 ft Bertram Tiburon on October 13th , when they released four striped marlin and caught fifteen dorado, of which five were released and one was stolen by Pancho the sea lion.

GORDO BANKS PANGAS Fish Report to October 24, 2014

GORDO BANKS PANGAS
San jose del cabo

October 24, 2014
Anglers –

We are now finally officially back in operation, as today we were connected once again to phone and Internet services. The long absence of not making any updates was all because we had no connection. We are now back operating fishing charters based out of the same panga area as before Hurricane Odile made a mess out of our marina basin. Work conditions are a bit rough, but we are making due and progress has been remarkable, as everyone is putting in extra efforts in this rebuilding phase. Limited numbers of charters have been departing, as flights from the U.S. have just resumed. Local infrastructure is making rapid advancements. Grocery stores are stocked, gasoline and diesel readily available, highways open, traffic signals working, Resorts are rebuilding, many have reopened already and most will be by the New Year.

The 4th of July is almost upon us and we expect a busy holiday here in Cabo with lots of families and fisherman showing up for the long weekend. So make your reservation soon.

Well the Blue Marlin are here and there biting which is good news for all of us anglers. Its that time of year where the water is warming and the fishing is really going to get good. We are seeing Blues and we will be seeing the occasional Black Marlin soon also. If you ever wanted to have an adventure like catching big game fish you should consider booking a trip to Cabo and getting in on the action. If you call me or contact me through my website ahead of time I can give you a heads up on whats been hitting and what your best chances are. Plus I just like to talk to strangers on the phone anyway!!

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.

WEATHER: The weather is hot as hell but nice. Highs pushing 100 degrees in the day time and cooling at night to mid 70,s. There was a couple days in which we did have some rain in the afternoons but it was just a local thunderstorm passing by and one day we did get a good down poor. Besides that its been clear and nice out an as I write this report its beautiful out so I decided to through on an old CD I had of Boxcar Wille and I sitting here listening to train songs doing the report. Life is good isn’t it and what would you do without country music anyway!!

WATER: If view the water temperature map at Tempbreak.com you will notice that the warm water is starting to wrap around the tip of Baja and we are even seeing it up on the pacific side also so its really coming into the area compared to the map last week. You will see the pockets of warm water even on pacific side. This is going to make for some good fishing. Please monitor this map from week to week as it can give you a good indication ho possibly the fishing will be by just looking at water temperatures and this can help you p. . . . Read the complete JC’s Sportfishing Weekly Fish Report at LosCabosGuide.com

Recipe: How to Grill Mahi Mahi/Dorado – From the Admirals Kitchen

Mahi mahi is a flavorful, dense, firm fish that can be found in fillets or steaks. This rich fish is called dolphin in some parts of the world, though not in the family of dolphins that are mammals. To eliminate possible confusion, it has become known by its Hawaiian name mahi mahi, which means strong. In other parts of the world it is known as Dorado, which is its actual scientific name. The tasty fish is low in carbohydrates and fat, so it is a healthful choice for almost any diet. Mahi mahi also tastes great by itself, with simple herbs and spices or with just about any sauces, marinades or salsas, so it is as diverse as it is delicious. Because the flavor is so pleasing and the fillets or steaks cook easily, learning how to grill mahi mahi to perfection is quite simple.

Please make your reservations a little sooner if you plan on coming down in the summer time as I expect we are going to be very busy this season. It is the time of year for all the big Blue and Black Marlin to move into the area so we are getting prepaired for the busy out of school season.

Recipe: Pan Seared Grouper with a White Wine Lemon Butter Sauce with Capers and Artichoke Hearts – From the Admirals Kitchen

This is a delicious and easy entrée for date night or for a dinner party. The sauce can be made ahead and all you have to do is sear the grouper, when ready to serve top with the sauce and you have a restaurant quality meal in no time.  Lemon Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil . I love using infused oils because it has a smoother flavor that a drizzle of juice from a fresh lemon just won’t do and you will be delighted with the flavor and the gourmet quality it adds to any dish you create. Ingredient amounts will serve two.

GORDO BANKS PANGAS Fish Report June 6, 2014

GORDO BANKS PANGAS San Jose del Cabo Fish Report June 6, 2014
Anglers –

ParkerWahooWe are in the later part of the spring season, with moderate sized crowds of tourists now visiting, this is always the time when families are busy finishing school semesters, preparing for graduations, summer adventures, etc. Local weather patterns made a complete circle this past week. We had just seen the season’s first Hurricane form to the south of Cabo San Lucas, Amanda, this system pushed tropical humid air over the Southern Baja, stormy conditions which never amounted to much, besides some higher ocean swells, in recent days we are feeling strong southerly winds push cooler Pacific air and ocean currents in the direction of the Sea of Cortez. There is much marine moisture, creating morning clouds, being swept away by gusting winds later in the day.

Ocean water temperature in the past couple of days has plummeted from 80 plus degrees, to 72 degrees throughout the inshore region from Cabo San Lucas to Los Frailes, some 10 to 15 miles offshore of Vinorama to La Frailes is where the 80 degree temperature break is now lurking. This colder current is a dirty greenish color as well, unfavorable conditions contributed to scattered much of the baitfish and gamefish from this zone. As conditions settle, conditions will rebound, as this is the time of year where things can change quickly overnight.

There are many species of gamefish that have been encountered in local waters this spring, though none of the species have been particularly abundant, with the exception of the offshore action for the striped marlin, which at times was very. . . Read the complete Gordo Banks Pangas Fishing Report at LosCabosGuide.com
