Bad Medicine Fishing Report March 2014

Bad Medicine Sport Fishing – Cabo Fishing Report March 2014

bad-medicine-fish-report-mar-2014Winter conditions are setting in here in Cabo, and along with that comes the annual migration of Striped Marlin. The bite has been incredible off the light house on the Pacific side. Many boats are hooking 5-10 Marlin per day on live bait fished deep. Golden Gate bank on the Pacific has also started with its Striped Marlin bite. Lots of fish hitting live bait fished down deep. The Yellowfin Tuna have also shown up! Large schools have been found near Jaime Bank and off the lighthouse 15-20 miles out. We are filling coolers quickly with some killer shashimi! Lots of dorado have been mixed in with the Marlin. The Pacific has been hot for Dorado action near shore all the way up to Todos Santos.

Bad Medicine Fishing Report February 2014

Bad Medicine Sport Fishing Cabo Fishing Report February 2014 kjfuyt

Cabo is enjoying possibly the nicest winter season ever on record here in the Baja. Temps in the mid 80’s and water temps in the mid 70’s, combined with mostly calm seas have kept the fishing hot as well. The Striped Marlin bite is holding strong. Tons of Stripey’s continue to hang out on the banks out on the  Pacific, and as the transition begins into the spring season, Marlin are also showing on the Sea Of Cortez side. The action for Stripey’s is hot with 4-6 shots at per day being common. There are even some Dorado mixed in there still too, whereas normally they head for warmer water by this time of year. Bad Medicine’s Fishing Report September 2013

The most exciting time of year is upon us here in Cabo. The water is at its warmest, and along with the 85-degree water come the Blue Marlin. And with the Blue (and Black) Marlin come the largest fishing tournaments in the world! The docks are already humming with excitement.

All species are now present. 5-10 Billfish bites per day are common. The waters are THICK with Striped Marlin. We have had some monster Blues on the Bad Medicine, including an approximately 400 lb fish taking 4 hours 50 minutes to land on light tackle! We have landed three others over 300 lbs. We are fishing almost daily now, and 3-4 Striped Marlin and a few shots at Sailfish are common. This is in addition to many Dorado bites and Tuna whenever we venture out further. Throw in the occasional Wahoo and the saying “you never know what will happen in September – October on the water in Cabo” proves as true as ever!  Phenomenal fishing right now to say the least.

As fall progresses, things will only get better. The Tuna are already showing well and Captain Bernie’s expertise on using the “kite” to catch the mature fish out of the school is deadly. We have already landed a few fish over 150 lbs and the season is just starting! We have also seen Dorado up to 70 lbs this year, as well as Wahoo over 100 lbs.

Bad Medicine Montlhy Fish Report

Cabo San Lucas Fish Report – July 2013

Cabo San Lucas monthly fish report for the Los Cabos area provided by Bad Medicine Sportfishing here in Cabo San Lucas, Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

Summer is officially upon us here in Cabo. We love the summer months here at Land’s End. The water is in the mid 80′s and boasts 100′ visibility quite often; truly amazing. The Striped Marlin bite is wide open right in front of town now, and 5-10 shots per day are common. That same temp break between the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific still holds good numbers of fish, and the Dorado are showing up there as well.

We are finally seeing some decent schools of Tuna! This is great news and many anglers are booking dates for August and September to chase monster Yellowfins. If this summer is anything like last summer, we are set for another record breaking year! The Blue Marlin and Sail Fish are showing as well, and as the summer progresses we know they will continue to roll in. We have already had a few instances of big Blues hitting tackle that is not prepared for the challenge and stripping out all the line in a few seconds. Anything can happen at this time of the year in Cabo!
