HEADLINES: August 31, 2015:

JC screamed: “You clowns showing up in my office are interrupting me while I am trying to expand my legend status. I cant stand Fish Report Boy, the guys a little wimp who I hired to write the so called fish report. The Fish Report Boy doesn’t know who the story is actually about. It’s me!! That’s right, Me!! I am the brains behind this operation not any of these other clowns who come to my office have a clue!! I made Fish Report Boy!! I found the guy drinking a 16 ounce Falstaff on a farm pond in Missouri, the guy was fishing for Carp. I taught him the ins and outs of Marlin Fishing and that Squirrel wouldn’t be nothing without me!! I have created a monster with this business and all my books, songs I have written. One of my songs “Lets go Fishing Now, Everybody Learning How, Lets go Fishing with JC”Hit the Billboard charts at number 1. JC spouted: I am dam proud of that catchy little number!! You know, sometimes I just stand and look in the mirror and say to myself: “JC, You are a remarkable fellow” then I have to pinch myself to see if it isn’t a dream!! I think if people just came by my office and had a conversation with me they would notice my god given abilities that I use to catch Marlin. When people come in my office and they leave, they say to themselves: “My gosh, that JC is really special”.

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have a memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.

WEATHER: HOT, HOT and HOTTER that is just the way it is here in Cabo now with about everyday pushing the 100 degree mark and lows in the mid 70,s. It seems the last 2 summers have been hotter than normal that I remember and I have been here a long time.

GORDO BANKS PANGAS Fish Report to August 28, 2015

GORDO BANKS PANGAS
San Jose del Cabo

Anglers –
August 28, 2015

Spencer247TunaNow into the final month of the summer season and weather patterns have remained calm off of the Southern Baja Peninsula, at this time there is Hurricane  Jimena now gaining strength, positioned over 1000 miles to the west of Cabo San Lucas, this system is nearing major hurricane status and we are all fortunate that it is heading in a direction far from land. Crowds of tourists remained light, though vacationers are enjoying the clear and calm conditions, though it is very tropical, warm and humid now, need to remember to stay hydrated. We are seeing some afternoon thundershowers over the mountains to the north, though not as concentrated as in past weeks. We will be following weather forecasts very closely for the next month, this is historically when storm systems can develop rapidly.

Water temperatures have ranged from 84 degrees on the Pacific, to an average of 87 degrees in the direction of the Sea of Cortez. Swells have been light for this time of year, strong currents on occasions and calm seas early in the day, with breezes picking up in the afternoon, but no heavy winds to report.

PISCES FISH REPORT

AUGUST 15th to 21st, 2015

Overall Catch Success Rate All Species Combined 76%

Untitled1

BILLFISH: What a week we’ve had – lots of nice catches but as is normal for this time of year we still had a little over twenty percent of boats that drew a blank. When booking in summer, especially August and September it is a good idea to book more than one day. When it’s good, it’s really good but you can have one great day followed by a blank so by booking a couple of days you cover yourself and can be pretty sure of catching something. Blue marlin catches continue unabated and they were almost our number one catch this week. To start out the week Valerie released both a blue and striped marlin outside of Punta Gorda for Anthony Tsim and friends from Redmond, Washington. This was followed by one of the top catches of the week aboard Rebecca, an estimated 320 lb. black marlin and a smaller blue marlin for Mark Giddings, Bonson Woodall & Benjamin Bockrath from Newport Beach, Ca. both fish were also caught near Punta Gorda. This same day, August 16th, Ollie Otmer and Lisa Mitcham released a 300 lb. blue marlin aboard Bill Collector at the 95 spot. Stephen and Adison Haas from Georgetown, Texas had a grand slam aboard Tracy Ann with a blue marlin, striped marlin and a sailfish all on live caballito at Punta Gorda.

The fish reports looks like a Schoolgirl wrote them anyway. This is not the Bluebirds Troop 15, my reports mean a lot to me!! Besides Captain Chris is way too busy to be writing this thing you call a FISH REPORT. He is a Mango Farmer also, up in the East Cape, the clown has orchards of Mangos he doesn’t know what to do with them. Fish Report Boy laughed and said: “I thought there was something fishy about that dude, I never have trusted him. Look JC, tell Captain Chris to don’t even think of trying to take my reporters job or mess with me!! Just tell the guy when I was travelling with the Circus, when I was in my teens, I fought 2 midgets at the same time and they were both knife throwers. I took them both out!! WEATHER: It has been pretty nice, but really hot. That is to be expected, though this time of year, over the last month we have been pretty lucky as it has been pretty calm down south with really no storms forming. We are in the middle of the summer and still have another month and a half to go, to get out of the woods, as far as hurricanes and storms. Highs are pushing a 100 degrees in the daytime when the sun is shining but we have seen a few days of overcast and a few drops of rain a couple days
WATER: Just like it was last week, and hasn’t changed much in over a week the warm water is here to stay awhile and it feels like a bathtub if you spend time in it.

Dorado catch a break

jpegEndless Season Update  August 21, 2015
REPORT #1457 “Below the Border”
Saltwater Fly-Fishing reports since 1996

THANK

IGREAT NEWS … WE DID IT! Remember we asked you to write in to the USA government to tell them not to let illegally caught dorado be imported into the United States? Well, here are the results. Well done everybody … especially Vince Radice. THANK YOU!

Dorado from Mexico is determined by NOAA and a Presidential task force on illegal unreported, unregistered pirate fishing (IUU) to be an at-risk species.

WASHINGTON— The Presidential task force on IUU, announced on Augsut 3rd, that dorado from Mexico is now officially an IUU at risk species. As a result illegal fishing operations in Mexico should no longer be allowed to export dorado into the United States of America even though it is an extremely lucrative seafood market.

GORDO BANKS PANGAS Fish Report to August 21, 2015

GORDO BANKS PANGAS
San Jose del Cabo

Anglers –
August 21, 2015

John150Tuna (800x532)

Tropical Storm activity remains calm in the Eastern Pacific, last week there was a substantial southern swell, this has now weakened and ocean conditions have been calm in recent days. We are seeing typical summer time tropical weather patterns, practically every afternoon there have been local thundershowers developing over the mountainous area to the north of San Jose del Cabo, rarely do these squalls ever reach the coastline. Always a bit unpredictable this time of year, we need to monitor all weather forecasts closely. With no new storms presently seen on the horizon it appears that this coming week should be favorable.

With reports coming out of Cabo San Lucas and the East Cape region, apparently the most consistent fishing action has been centered on the grounds from the Gordo Banks to Iman Bank. With the ocean swell residing, the commercial fleet was able to find better supplies of sardinas, these have been the preferred baitfish available for targeting the yellowfin tuna action, the tuna have dominated all of the activity recently. On the Gordo Banks is where the largest sized yellowfin have been lurking, though this action has been hit or miss, with only a few of these tuna actually being landed. The area where greater numbers of the yellowfin are being accounted for, is on the Iman Bank, situated north of the Gordo Banks and within several miles of shore. Water temperatures have been in the 86/88 degree range and clarity has improved since the passing of the swells.

Cabo Fish Report July 29 to August 18, 2015

FLY HOOKER SPORTFISHING
Captain George Landrum

gmlandrum@hotmail.com www.flyhooker.com http://captgeo.wordpress.com/

Cabo Fish Report
July 29 – August 18, 2015

SYNOPSIS: There has not been a lot of change in the fishing for the past three weeks, and that is not too much of a surprise. With water temperatures in the high 80’s we are seeing a lot of Blue Marlin and Sailfish offshore, and Roosterfish along the beach. Other species have been scarce with just a few big Tuna, a few nice Wahoo and a few smaller sized Dorado.

WEATHER: We saw some rain in the past few weeks as storms from the mainland blew across the Sea of Cortez. The clouds would stack up in the mountains and then the rain would start, enough to bring some welcome relief to the thirsty desert plants. Just yesterday we had a light sprinkle here in town! I saw a lot of cloud cover during this reporting period, but an almost equal amount of sun so it was a pretty mixed experience. Our daytime highs have hit over 100 degrees several days, last week the thermometer on my truck read 103, but most of the time we have been between 95 and 98 degrees, with high humidity. Yesterday and today felt a bit cooler because of lower humidity but the gauges still read the same when it came to the temperature. Our nights have been warm as well with the lows in the low 80’s. Mostly around 82-83 degrees, and with this humidity almost anyone with an air-conditioner has been using it at night.

WATER: For this entire reporting period we have had greenish water everywhere within 30 miles of Cabo. If you ran to the southwest farther than that you got into cleaner water. Temperatures in the greenish water have been from 89 to 85 degrees, the blue water has been cooler at 85-82 degrees.

HEADLINES: August 17, 2015:
JC screamed: Yes a Taxi! I want to drive one cause Im a talker and I could talk to people all day if I drove taxi. The public needs to know about me? No one knows some of the important things about me, like in 1975 I won the Arkansas State fair hair pulling contest, got 3 handfuls of some bleach blondes hair, I won a $15.00 dollar first prize and a Blue Ribbon. It’s stuff like that I want the public to know about me. I am not just a Marlin expert, there is many sides to me, I am a sophisticated individual. People don’t know I hung out with the Rat Pack in Vegas and was friends with Frank, Dean, Sammy and the boys. Sammy called me a “Cream Puff”one night cause he stole my song the “Candy Man”and I called him on it. We had a bit of a scuffle and settled it outside. That’s the stuff that the people need to know about JC.
Fish Report Boy screamed: The Candy Man?“Stop your lies JC, just stop your lies, you are not the legend you think you are”We all know you now?

WEATHER: Well the only way to describe it is really hot and being mid summer in Cabo it is nothing new but we are experiencing a much hotter year than previous summers. I have been here a long time, and this is pretty extreme as far as heat goes.

PISCES WEEKLY FISH REPORT August 1st TO 14th, 2015

PISCES FISH REPORT
AUGUST 1ST TO 14TH, 2015

Overall Catch Success Rate All Species Combined 73%
Numbers at a glance: Billfish 72%, Tuna11%, Dorado 6%, Other 8%

Untitled

BILLFISH: Fishing is really good in Cabo right now, but not for everybody with just a little over seventy percent of charters catching – which is great if you are on the positive side of the equation but not so good if you were in the close to thirty percent that did not catch this week. The thing is, we are really spoiled in Cabo, anglers expect to catch fish every time out and at this time of year that is simply not the case. The water is great, blue, mostly calm and high water temperatures, up in the high 80’s but there is a lot of bait in the water, giving the fish a lot of choice and making them less hungry. Factoring all this in we can still say without a doubt that this is the best blue marlin and sailfish season we have seen in years – you just have to be patient and perhaps book more than one day to be sure of catching fish. Blue marlin are trickier to catch and many times were seen or even briefly hooked before getting off; this scenario was repeated with sailfish, so catch rates could have been higher. We saw some great catches and it was nice to see striped marlin rebounding – Tracy Ann caught two up to 160 lbs. on August 7th for Luv & Brittany Mirani from Atlanta, Georgia at Los Arcos. On August 10th Bill Collector had a great day for the Roester family from San Francisco; they were fishing at the 11.50 spot and were fortunate to release a 300 lb. blue marlin and a large sailfish that was close to 120 lbs. South Carolina anglers Robert & Fran Powell had a busy day aboard Andrea releasing two big sailfish and a 140 lb. striped marlin, that took petrolero lures and one live caballito.
