HEADLINES: June 29, 2015:
JC shouted: “I don’t where that pip squeak is, and I will strangle him if don’t do my report, all I do is pay him to write that so called fish report for me”. Ive given that clown a pension, money and I put him up in one of the seediest hotels in Cabo and all the guy does is argue with me and steal my fish recipes!!! JC barked:“someone said they saw him hitch hiking on the main highway towards Buena Vista and if I’m right, he probably went to that Salsa Dance class they have over there every Sunday. The guy thinks he’s John Travolta, don’t worry about him, he will be back”!!!

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have a memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.
WEATHER: Still about the same as last week with nice days and some wind in the afternoons and evening. We have had some very nice weather over the past week. I was out last night and we had some pretty strong north winds that were pretty cool, looks as if they were coming off the Pacific. I think in the afternoons if your fishing on the pacific side expect some rough rides as it has been blowing pretty good in the afternoons. Really as far as temperatures its been really warm in the day time with mostly sunny days and cooler evenings.
WATER: Well, there is a huge difference in the water temperatures on the East Cape compared to closer to Cabo on the Pacific side where there is like a 10 degree difference in water.

Cabo Fish Report
June 24 – 29, 2015

SYNOPSIS: Good for Striped Marlin, good for Yellowfin Tuna, fair for Dorado, some Wahoo and fair for Roosterfish. Does that round it up pretty good? I have to say that this is an average, some trips the fish were there and on others it was being in the right place at the wrong time. Details below.

WEATHER: This week was the start of the summer weather as our lows were in the high 70’s at night and our daytime highs were in the high 90’s. Toss in a little humidity to coat you with a light sweat (if you were on land) and it was fantastic! Remember, sweat opens your pores and cleans you up! We were still getting some light winds from the northwest and once in a while from the south and that helped cool things off in the evenings and early mornings.

WATER: There was not a lot of change from last week other than a degree increase in the overall temps. On the Pacific side the water was a bit off color and in spots was as cool as 72 degrees.

PISCES WEEKLY FISH REPORT JUNE 20th TO 26th, 2015

PISCES Weekly Fish Report

June 20th to 26th, 2015

Overall Catch Success Rate All Species Combined 98%
Numbers at a glance: Billfish 16%, Tuna 80%, Dorado 4%, Other 12%

Untitled1BILLFISH: Another great week for fishing in Cabo! Or we should call it the Tuna week! We have been waiting for the tuna to appear down in our waters and did not disappoint to our anglers at all, but let´s come back to our Billfish which was great. Carl Smith and Joseph McCorvey from Hockley, Texas fought a Blue Marlin weight estimated over 180 lb. aboard Pisces Ruthless with our beloved Leon Camacho who yesterday put again a Blue in his line participating with the Stars and Stripes Tournament. Brad Rau from Minneapolis released another blue, weight estimated of 250 lb. at Palmilla area. Pisces Adriana boat got a blue marlin 14 miles out of Cabo Real with a “clown lure”, (local name by the Cabo crews) with a variety of colors. The Striped Marlin has been spreading in different areas of the sea of Cortes to the Pacific side, from   Palmilla, to the 11.50 spot, in front of the Cabo Bay going out about 30 miles out, the Old light House spot and other fishing grounds over the Pacific side all the way to San Jaime. The Marlin is everywhere and this is a glance of the upcoming high season!. On June 22nd Pisces Flora T with Captain “Toto” put Brad Jauer´s group in action with two striped marlin released and one yellow fin tuna at the 95 spot, visiting from San Antonio, Tx. We had two sailfish released in the same fishing ground aboard the 28ft Adriana, weight estimated  60 lb. for Ana, Jennifer y Tony Gonzalez visiting from Alburqueque, New Mexico.

GORDO BANKS PANGAS Fish Report to June 26, 2015

GORDO BANKS PANGAS
San Jose del Cabo

Anglers –
June 26, 2015

DSC_0699This week we had persistent warmer weather conditions, no storms brewing on the map at this time, warm and humid conditions prevail and with warmer ocean currents pushing 80 degree plus water in our direction, anything could develop on the horizon any day. Ocean swells are minimal now, after the big blow last Saturday winds were now light, which turned water conditions over for a couple of days, water temperatures cooled by ten degrees overnight, also clarity became greenish closer to shore. Though now water has cleaned back up and conditions appear favorable.

The action became more scattered after the gusty winds, as water was cooler, the colder water species, such as Eastern Pacific Bonito and huachinango, the true Pacific red snapper went on a good bite on the San Luis Bank, striking mainly on yo-yo style jigs. By mid-week this action tapered off as warmer clean water returned. Though there was a decent mix of bottom species accounted for, pargo, amberjack, cabrilla and a few dogtooth snapper. Some fish to 30 lb. were landed.

Cabo Fish Report
June 16 – 23, 2015

SYNOPSIS: Ah, the ebb and flow of fishing! The fishing at the start of the report period was good and getting better by the day for all species. Anglers were looking forward to the two day Pelagic tournament on Thursday and Friday. Looking forward to something does not make it happen though and the winds kicked up, the bite went off and disappointment set in. Then it got better again and now continues to improve. If you want Roosterfish, Tuna or Marlin it is a great time to come and fish! Details on all this below.

WEATHER: I am very happy to say that this has been the best June so far when it comes to comfort. I have been here a while and having nighttime lows in the low 70’s and daytime highs in the high 90’s with a slight breeze (most of the time) is about as good as it gets. We did have the wind show up starting on Thursday and it blew very hard on Friday and Saturday, slowly tapering off on Sunday. The strong wind did several things, none of them good.

PISCES WEEKLY FISH REPORT JUNE 13th TO 19th, 2015

PISCES FISH REPORT

JUNE 13TH TO 19TH, 2015

Overall Catch Success Rate All Species Combined 90%

Numbers at a glance: Billfish 62%, Tuna 12%, Dorado 11%, Other 49%

UntitledBILLFISH: Cabo San Lucas experienced great fishing again this week with striped marlin remaining steady and more sailfish starting to appear. As well as billfish we are starting to see more table fish showing up, with dorado starting to put in an appearance as well as some nice tuna and a bunch of inshore fish. The honeymoon with the 11.50 seems to be over for the time being as the fish moved on to other locations. With the concentration broken up boats were able to manage catches of one to four marlin per day, when not heading out in search of tuna. Pisces Listo released four stripers up to 140 lbs. off of Lands’ End for the Moore family from Colorado Springs – the fish a took a combination of live bait and lures. This same day, June 17th, Pisces C Rod also released four marlin between Lands’ End and the lighthouse, all on caballito for a group from Brea, California. The fish were spread out from Land’s End to Palmilla and on some days were closer to Chileno.

Pelagic Tournament Results Inside!!

HEADLINES: June 22, 2015:Well the Pelagic Fishing Tournament was going on this past week and ended Friday. For the second year in a row the tournament was littered with conflict and controversy. It seems there was lots of conflict of interest with the people running the tournament and actually what the tournament rules and regulations state. It seems as these rules (clearly stated) were not followed or respected.

Gamefish Category: TUNA, WAHOO, DORADO At the end of each day of tournament fishing, teams may score their single-heaviest game fish, whether its tuna, wahoo, or Dorado. At the end of the final day of tournament fishing, team rankings will be determined based on the heaviest single game fish per team throughout the two day tournament.

This rule it seems wasn’t enforced and the tournament money went to another boat. We are not going to go into all the details all we know there is surely a conflict of interest here and we think that Pelagic is teaming up with the wrong people here in Cabo to run their tournament and this is not the first year there was a problem as last year was the same.

GORDO BANKS PANGAS Fish Report to June 19, 2015

GORDO BANKS PANGAS
San Jose del Cabo

Anglers –
June 19, 2015

With the summer season now officially upon us we have seen an increase of crowds, as many school have already ended school semesters are now on vacation. The latest Tropical Storm, “Carlos” dissipated off of mainland Mexico and never amounted to anything for Southern Baja, except for raising the heat and humidity factors, ocean swells barely even were visible and very few clouds were seen. Sunny days, with highs in the lower 90’s, winds predominately from the south, out of San Jose del Cabo, ocean conditions were calm and this is where the water temperatures were up to 80 degrees. Currents have fluctuated, pushing in cleaner water and then perhaps even the next day, shifting currents would sweep in off colored greenish water, this is time of year when we can see these rapidly fluctuating currents, which can affect how active the fish can be in certain areas on a given day.

Anglers were relying on the bait source found in the marina area, caballito and moonfish most readily available. Though there were reports of massive schools of mullet seen along the beaches just on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas, have not seen these mullet in significant numbers for some time.
