Well spring break and Easter are over with for another year. Town has died down a bit but it is a great time to come to Cabo. The weather s great and ocean water is nice also for so many activities. Stop by my office as I am there about everyday and check out how the fishing is and I will let you know what has been biting or hasn’t.

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.

WEATHER: Well the wind has finally died down and we are seeing better conditions with calmer seas which should start to bring the fish back into the area. The day time highs have been in the ladder 80,s to low 90,s and lows in. . . . Read the complete JC’s Sportfishing Weekly Fish Report at LosCabosGuide.com

GORDO BANKS PANGAS San Jose del Cabo Fish Report April 26th, 2014

Anglers-

GaryAmberWith spring break now officially over, crowds of visitors have lighted up, weather patterns have continued to warm, feeling increasingly tropical this past week, early morning clouds, then plenty of sunshine and high temperatures now into the upper 80s.

Ocean water temperatures are ranging 76 to 79 degrees, from Cabo San Lucas to Los Frailes, no significant temperature breaks seen. Winds have still been somewhat unpredictable, though this week has been much more settled than last, recent trend has been that the south winds are kicking up mid day, early mornings have been very comfortable.

No news of any new resources for sardinas, available baitfish have been moonfish, various jacks and fresh brined ballyhoo. There were reports of more flying fishing now being seen in the warming currents, always a favorable sign, water clarity has rapidly improved as well, clean blue water was now found within a half mile of shore.

Early in the week the billfish action was predominately found further offshore, though that quickly changed, as striped marlin moved in within less than one mile from shore, straight out in front of the Puerto Los Cabos Marina, these fish were readily striking on trolled ballyhoo and also hitting on live baits being drifted down deep. Most of these stripers were weighing . . . . Read the complete Gordo Banks Pangas Fishing Report at LosCabosGuide.com

Today is Easter Sunday and the weather looks pretty decent out. All the kids will be heading home as all the holidays are wrapping up and I think things will get back to normal for us here in Cabo. Spring break and Easter holiday is a big deal here and the town fills up with young kids from the US and lots of Mexican nationals from the mainland of Mexico and even people coming from northern Baja to vacation in southern Baja. There is no doubt that Easter is a religious holiday and then it turns into a big party, anyway on with the report.

Recipe: How to make Fish JerkyFrom The Admirals Kitchen

Jerky isn’t just for beef. If you have access to fresh low fat fish, then you may want to try making fish jerky. The process is pretty much the same as for beef, buffalo, venison, etc., except most of the marinades I’ve seen used call for a sweeter taste. And of course, you’ll want to remove the fine bones.

PISCES WEEKLY FISH REPORT
April 12th to 18th 2014

Overall Catch Success Rate All Species Combined 78%Numbers at a glance:
Marlin 76%, Dorado 8%, Other 2%

piscesBILLFISH:  Although catch numbers were lower this week than the previous one, we were still very pleased with the fishing, because we had a full moon and some very windy weather   – normally a recipe for poor catches – yet seventy six percent of our charters caught marlin. Not only that, we had some outstanding catches, such as those aboard Pisces Rebecca, who released seven striped marlin on April 12th for the Haran family from Dallas, Texas. All of their fish were released at the 11.50 spot after taking live bait or ballyhoo – these were our anglers of the week. This same day Pisces Valerie did not fare too badly either, releasing four marlin up to 120 lbs. for Gary Allison from Las Vegas. Next day out Rebecca was again the top boat, this time with four marlin for Duncan, Denisse & Christopher Roberts from Frisco, Colorado.  The wind blew for. . . . . .  Read the complete Pisces Sportfishing Cabo Fish Report at LosCabosGuide.com

GORDO BANKS PANGAS San Jose del Cabo Fish Report April 18, 2014

Anglers-
Easter Week is attracting local families to all of the accessible beaches, as this is the traditional time to spend time with family and friends on the shoreline. Practically the whole city shuts down this weekend, as no one wants to miss out on any of the action. This is also transition time for the weather patterns, days are steadily warming, though there has been a mix of cloud cover and cooler Pacific breezes sweeping through actually the ideal climate now, with high temperatures into the 80s.

Many locals always say that the fish go on vacation as well over the holiday, with the recent full moon passing and choppy ocean conditions for a few days, we did see the water clarity become blotchy and the all around fishing action was more scattered. Striped marlin with some dorado mixed in has been the main deal offshore, varying from day to day, at times fish were found within several miles, other days out to 20 miles.

There were reports of offshore porpoise activity, but no yellowfin tuna were associated. Anglers were trolling open water with lures and using either rigged ballyhoo or live caballito for bait. The live bait found inside the marina dock area did become scarcer during the moon as well.

Panga fleets looking for the best chances at action for a variety of more preferred good eating species were concentrating on the San Luis Bank. The Eastern Pacific bonito was the most . . . . . Read the complete Gordo Banks Pangas Fishing Report at LosCabosGuide.com

piscesBILLFISH: This week was FANTASTIC for striped marlin catches in Cabo, with nearly every boat catching between one and six in a day, resulting in a lot of happy anglers. Best day of the week was April 5th, when thirty nine marlin were released, between nine of our boats!  The fish seemed to be parked at the 11.50 spot on the Cortez side, though occasionally the odd one was found towards Punta Gorda. Pisces Valerie, Ruthless & Bill Collector all had a half dozen marlin each caught on a combination of live caballito and frozen ballyhoo on April 5th. Next day out Bill Collector equaled this number again for anger Ross Kline from Reno, Nevada. John & Tamara Moskites, fishing with Todd Turner, all from North Carolina, were very pleased to release six marlin up to. . . . . .  Read the complete Pisces Sportfishing Cabo Fish Report at LosCabosGuide.com

I realize it has been quite a while since my last post, and if you read that then you are aware of the reasons.  The good news is that my wife is at this point cancer free, and although we still have a lot of physical rehabilitation to go through, I am back in Cabo and can once again see what is happening first hand.

Having said that, I will only give a very brief report for the past week.  First of all, there are lots, and I mean lots, of Striped Marlin out there.  Not every one of them is hungry, and you may toss baits at a dozen before you…Read the complete Fly Hooker Sportfishing Cabo Fish Report on LosCabosGuide.com.

Well Easter is almost upon us and it will be busy in Cabo this coming weekend. The weather is great and is really warming up pretty fast and all the tourist are going to love that. After this weekend things will start to slow down a bit as things will get back to normal. Kids and families will cover the beaches from here to La Paz so it ought to be a fun time had by all.

We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.
WEATHER: The weather has been really good all week with basically a little warmer than normal temperatures. The wind has still been blowing in the afternoons and does have some effect on the fishing but it has tailed of some compared to what it was over last 2 weeks. The heat is coming early this year I can feel it some days this as we were close to hitting ninety a few days over the last 10 days.

Recipe: Grilled Fish Tacos – From The Admirals Kitchen

Instead of deep-frying the fish for these fish tacos, we coat the fish with a flavor-packed chile rub and grill it instead. Make sure the fillets are no more than 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick so they cook quickly. Sometimes flipping fish on the grill can be tricky since the fish can stick to the grill or fall apart. The solution is to invest in a grill basket that easily holds 4 to 6 fish fillets and secures the fish in the basket for easy flipping. If you don’t have a grilling basket, make sure the grill is hot and well oiled before adding the fish.
