Redrum Sportfishing Weekly Fish Report – Sept 23-29, 2013

Hola my friends!! I did not want to leave you guys hanging on what went on this week out there. I will get more detailed on this report tomorrow, just wanted you guys coming in this week to know what was going on out there!

We have been catching TONS of Dorado out there this week, some boats, that is all they caught, but all boats caught this week, except for one boat on Sunday, no idea WHAT happened there, except maybe they told me later that they took bananas with them on the boat….. Uhoh…..

Now we can not forget to talk about the Finnegan crew, who fishes each year for several days on several boats. This year they blew it out of the water catching a total of 3 Stripe Marlin, 3 Sailfish. a 50lb Wahoo, a Yellowfin Tuna and WAY too many Dorado to count! Check out the smiles from Brian, Drew and John Dolan at our famous “Arch”….

Finnegan

Anyway, we are still catching Stiped Marlin, caught quite a few Sailfish this week as well. Not near as many Billfish as Dorado though and we did not catch any Blues this week either.

Andrew Queral and his buddy Doug fished a couple of days this week, caught a nice Sail and 14 Dorado the first day, check out that nice Dorado!Andrew Queral And Rebecca day 2 caught her first ever ocean fish and she was a beaut! Rebecca

There were also some Wahoo boated, those are always good eating!

Thanks for Reading!

Pisces Sportfishing Cabo Fish Report 27 Sept 2013

pisces-sport-fishing-caboPISCES WEEKLY CABO FISH REPORT

September 21 to 27, 2013

Numbers at a glance:
Billfish 67%, Dorado 86%, Tuna 29%, Other 20%

Overall Catch Success Rate 100%

BILLFISH: Fishing in Cabo remains unabated with anglers being kept busy in waters teeming with fish, well perhaps more dorado than marlin but nevertheless great catches. Thankfully this week the port was open every day and even with a big moon we still had some nice hookups. “Fearless” had the largest fish of the week for Glen Sheridan from East Windsor, New Jersey on September 21st. The fish took a green & black lure at Punta Gorda and was estimated at almost 400 lbs. before being released. This was not the only blue for Fearless as on September 25th they released a smaller, 250 lb’er, along with three sailfish, one striped marlin & two tuna – now that’s fishing!  Fearless was definitely on a roll and released another blue marlin for Glen Sheridan as well as a striper & eight dorado – three blue marlin in a week, great job Captain Benito. Pisces Tracy Ann also had a blue marlin a few days later, around the same size & had a busy day going on to release three sailfish, one striped marlin & two tuna for Lee & Loel Wilson from Missouri fishing with Dave and Brett smith from Dallas.  The 72 ft. Elliott Alure, had a fantastic day at the end of the week, fishing on the Pacific they released a 225 lb. blue marlin & two striped marlin, plus a 40 lb. wahoo and twenty dorado. Halcon was the top sailfish boat; releasing five in one day as well as a striped marlin at the 11.50 spot for Kevin Delahousey from Nicholasville, Kentucky. The catches of striped marlin were generally of a single fish plus some dorado, though a few boats got two or even three. Top striper boat though was Yahoo, with four released up to 160 lbs. plus eight dorado for Scott & Valerie Canfield from Bakersfield, California. Every boat we sent out this week caught fish of some type, with sixty seven percent of charters catching billfish, giving us a total of 63 consisting of 39 striped marlin, 20 sailfish & 4 blue marlin.

OTHER SPECIES: Dorado were everywhere in Cabo this week & catches of 20 plus fish per boat were common. Many of the smaller fish are being released, but anglers are going home with ice chests full of this tasty sportsfish. Dorado were the top catch this period with sixty seven percent of charters catching between one and twenty four with the average around twelve fish in a day. They were found over a widespread area and were ravenous, taking bait & lures. Our total dorado count, including fish released was 681 fish.  Yellow fin tuna catches were a little better this week, with twenty nine percent of boats catching between one and twenty fish, though sizes were nothing special at 15 to 20 lbs. It was nice to see some big wahoo come in, as in recent years it is rare we see anything over 50 lbs.; this week we had one that weighed 75 lbs. and took 45 minutes to land aboard La Brisa, after it took a guacamaya lure by angler Michael Hanson from San Francisco, Ca. The other large wahoo was caught aboard Adriana and took a purple rapala by angler Rocky Warren from Golden, Colorado and weighed 64 lbs.  Jean Paul Grenier from British Columbia released a 60 lb. mako shark at the 11.50 spot aboard Speedwell – he also released a sailfish & caught six dorado along with Kate McLean. The only other catches for us were a few skipjack.
WEATHER: Seems to have cooled off a little, seas are calm in the morning but have had some whitecaps late in the afternoon on the Pacific. Skies partly cloudy.

LOCATION: Pozo Cota, Golden Gate, Margaritas, 11.50, 95 spot, Cabrillo, Migrino, Herradura, Destiladeras – basically everywhere.

AVERAGE WATER TEMP: 84 F

BEST LURES: ballyhoo, guacamaya, green, caballito, orange black

Redrum Sportfishing Weekly Fish Report – September 16 – 22, 2013

Hola Amigos!! The big thing to report this week is tropical storm Manuel that passed through and closed the port AGAIN for 2 days. I think it has been the worst storm season in quite some time. Please keep all the families along the coast south of us in your thoughts as there was some major devastation. We are not getting it that bad, just messin’ up our fishing!!

I am missing some reports from Monday, but I do have the Pyles who fished throughout the week! Shirley and hubby Thomas fished on Tantrum Monday Wednesday and Friday and caught tons of Dorado and 3 Striped Marlin. Shirley was super excited to release this one….PYLE-23

Tuesday we had the Abbamonte’s fishing on colleen’s Magic, they too caught Dorado and a Marlin. Sam Allport and buddies from New Zealand fished on ReelRum for the day and caught a bunch of Dorado. Carol and Tom Mccoy were with us for a couple of days as well, Tuesday and Friday, they were stormed ut Wednesday and Thursday. They caught about 14 Dorado and Carol released a Striped marlin. She’s got a nice Dorado in the photo!!MCCOY 24

The Oge boys were back with us this year and unfortunately got stormed out their scheduled 2 days, but they made it out Friday. They caught 7 Dorado. The Jauer group also rescheduled a day of fishing, but made it out on Friday aboard RumRunnin and Saturday on El Nuevo. They had a good day Friday, landing 7 Dorado, but an even better day Saturday releasing a sailfish, Striped Marlin and boating their limit in Dorado. Our buddy and veteran RedRum Angler Joe assenza and wife Karen were at it this weekend along with some friends Jason and Jessica. They too caught tons of Dorado, 1 Striped marlin the first day – Jessica’s 1st, Jason caught his 1st billfish day 2, a large Sailfish and Joe released a Marlin and Sunday they caught a mako shark and a Sailfish. GREAT weekend of fishing for these guys!!! Don’t forget the ribs when you are back in November Joe :) Chris Geggat and clan were down for a bachelor party weekend and fished aboard 3 boats Saturday, 2 1/2 day boats and 1 full day. They too caught lots of Dorado and released a Marlin.

James Morgan and crew fished on Marlin Queen Saturday. They caught a few Yellowfin Tuna, some Dorado and released a Striped Marlin. The Lomeli’s managed to get out for a 1/2 day on Sunday after having to move their trip due to some food poisoning – DO.NOT. DRINK. THE WATER…. LOL. They caught their limit in Dorado.

Sunday we had friend Kent Sommer and brother Todd on board 19′s Toy for the day they caught a bunch of Dorado. The Brydson’s and crew are here on one of our Play & Stay packages and they had a great day aboard El Nuevo, catching 15 Dorado a Yellowfin Tuna and they released a Striped marlin. Last but not leaset, we had Mike Reavis and crew on board RumRunnin for the day Sunday, they were not disappointed, catching 12 Dorado.

So, as you can see friends, the storm affects the fishing sometimes, but not THIS time! If you are in it for DOrado, you are in luck! We are catching tons! Is your trip to Cabo booked yet???

See y’all soon!

Cabo Magic Sportfishing Fish Report, September 22, 2013

cabo-magic-sportfishing-2a Weekly  Summary Sept 15-22, 2013 – Exceptional results for all VIP Guests.

Early in the week, New VIP Guests Paul Barry, Karin Barry, Anne Makins and Jim Makins spent the day aboard our 34′ Crystalliner and boated 2 nice Dorado + a 70# Wahoo – an awesome day!

Return VIP Guests James & Shara Green visiting from San Antonio, TX & fished 2 days with us on our 34′ Topaz with Capt Manny and their results are incredible: 2 Pez Bella (Pacific Sailfish) released + 3 Marlin Reyado (Striped Marlin) released + 8 YELLOWFIN TUNA + 12 DORADO.

Losing count of how many MARLIN REYADO (Striped Marlin) have been CR&R is a ridiculous great problem to have! Tony, Dwayne & Stacie, James, Chris, Alan, Nick, Marc, David, Steve, Stan, Dennis, Meredith, Christie, Jayne, Jen, Will & Stef, Harry & Shirley,

Lost Counts of how many Dorado boated is another common problem! Many guests are getting their fill of these delectable fish and having many pounds frozen to bring back home with them to have a “Fiesta” and tell Fish Stories – showing pictures too!

Not seeing much in the way of PARGO (Snapper) but our pangero captain says any minute now we should start catching them! Anyone else enjoy eating huachinango as much as Tommy does?

The underwater food chain is telling great stories right now. The Blues and Blacks are out there – some fishermen, fisherwoman captains and mates who are superstitious don’t want to find those right now because they want anglers participating in the upcoming tournaments to! by the way we have a few excellent vessels available for tournaments – interested?

Pisces Fish Report September 14 to 20, 2013

pisces-sport-fishing-caboPISCES WEEKLY FISH REPORT

September 14 to 20, 2013

Numbers at a glance:
Billfish 72%, Dorado 85%, Tuna 18%

Overall Catch Success Rate All Species Combined 99%

BILLFISH: Cabo was again plagued by tropical weather this week, causing the port to be closed partly on the 17th and fully on the 18th & 19th, frustrating for anglers and crews alike, but we are thankful that no major damage was sustained.  Just before the rains and wind we had some pretty spectacular fishing days. Pisces Valerie out on September 14th with Bryan Koehn, Julie Garchynski & Ron Hasber from San Antonio, Texas on board, had an amazing day with a grand slam consisting of a 312 lb. blue marlin which took a purple lure, two striped marlin a sailfish & three dorado, fishing at the 95 spot and Herradura. This same day proved to be the best of the period – for instance Pisces La Brisa had five striped marlin up to 130 lbs., a sailfish, a dorado & two tuna for Chris & Amy Renegar. On par this day too was Adriana, with four sailfish, two striped marlin & a dorado for Tim, Larry & Travis Pierce from Seattle, WA. Luis Nunez from Panama had a blast aboard Tracy Ann on September 16th with two striped marlin, a sailfish & eighteen dorado from 15 to 50 lbs. Other boats had one marlin or sail plus dorado. Action was great if the port had been open, as it is we fished only half the days we normally would which is reflected in the numbers. Nevertheless ninety nine percent of boat caught fish; just one “skunked” which our dock master Abraham swears is because the anglers took bananas on the boat (captains are superstitious about this). Pisces boats caught a total of 44 billfish this week, consisting of 30 striped marlin, 13 sailfish & 1 blue marlin. Read to the complete Pisces Sportfishing Cabo Fish Report on LosCabosGuide.com
